Insurance, deductibles, self-pay. Here’s how each one affects what you actually pay.
What “we accept your insurance” actually means
“We accept your insurance” is not the same as “this is free.” It means your plan will pay toward your treatment. How much you personally owe still depends on the specifics of your plan.
This isn’t specific to Bicycle Health. It’s how insurance works everywhere. But we’d rather you hear it from us upfront than find it out on a bill.
Here’s the part that trips people up: your deductible. Most plans require you to pay a set amount out of pocket each year before insurance starts covering costs. If you haven’t hit that number yet, your first few visits may cost more, even though your plan is accepted and we’re in-network.
Once your deductible is met, your cost usually drops to a co-pay or co-insurance amount, which is typically much lower.
