SUBOXONE is indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence in adults. SUBOXONE should not be taken by individuals who have been shown to be hypersensitive to buprenorphine or naloxone as serious adverse reactions, including anaphylactic shock, have been reported.  Taking SUBOXONE with other opioid medicines, benzodiazepines, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants can cause breathing problems that can lead to coma and death.  Other side-effects may include headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, insomnia, pain, increased sweating, sleepiness, dizziness, coordination problems, physical dependence or abuse, and liver problems. For more information about SUBOXONE, see Suboxone.com, the full Prescribing Information, and Medication Guide or talk to your healthcare provider.  You are encouraged to report negative side effects of drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

How does opioid dependence treatment with Suboxone work?

Opioid dependence treatment enables affected individuals to function normally without opioids. Medical treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) is a highly effective first-line treatment that reduces opioid withdrawal, cravings, and overdose risk by partially activating the same receptors as opioids. It occupies the brain’s opioids receptors without producing the ill effects of opioids.

Suboxone is safer and often more accessible than alternative treatment options. Thus, it is the treatment of choice at Bicycle Health and worldwide. An online relationship with a Bicycle Health medical provider can provide you with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone).

Treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) is NOT replacing one addiction with another. To learn more, check out our related article here.

Benefits of Suboxone for Opioid Dependence Treatment

Buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) is a highly effective treatment option for opioid dependence. Treatment retention rates are as high as 75%. Suboxone treatment improves the likelihood that individuals will abstain from opioids compared to those not on medication. Studies demonstrate that within one month of stopping buprenorphine treatment, more than 50% of patients relapse to illicit opioid use. Thus, we encourage the long-term use of Suboxone therapy for patients with opioid use disorder.

One of the advantages of Suboxone is that, unlike other treatment options, it has a safer side effect profile and is difficult to abuse. It can therefore be prescribed safely in outpatient clinics.

Buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) helps patients feel normal and function without opioids. When taken as prescribed by a medical provider, it treats opioid dependence and helps patients to improve their quality of life.

My life has improved 100%. I can deal with the ups and downs, am rarely depressed, don’t have a lot of anxiety, and have my energy back. I feel like a normal person again. My family has noticed the change in me, and they love it. The biggest thing, though, is that I have had ZERO cravings for opioids, and that is a miracle.

Here at Bicycle Health, we offer online support groups, which serve as safe, confidential spaces to meet with others who are also in recovery. Patients also work with dedicated health coaches who assist with behavioral health needs, and our medical providers are trained to prescribe treatment for common mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety.
