RX Only: See important safety information about Suboxone

SUBOXONE is indicated for the treatment of opioid dependence in adults. SUBOXONE should not be taken by individuals who have been shown to be hypersensitive to buprenorphine or naloxone as serious adverse reactions, including anaphylactic shock, have been reported.  Taking SUBOXONE with other opioid medicines, benzodiazepines, alcohol, or other central nervous system depressants can cause breathing problems that can lead to coma and death.  Other side-effects may include headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, insomnia, pain, increased sweating, sleepiness, dizziness, coordination problems, physical dependence or abuse, and liver problems. For more information about SUBOXONE, see Suboxone.com, the full Prescribing Information, and Medication Guide or talk to your healthcare provider.  You are encouraged to report negative side effects of drugs to the FDA. Visit www.fda.gov/medwatch or call 1-800-FDA-1088.

Services Offered

From assessments, personalized treatment plans, Health Coaching and community support, Bicycle Health offers a wealth of heroin dependence treatment and recovery support to fit into your busy life.

Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

In our MAT program, an expert licensed physician will perform an assessment and prescribe Buprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone) if appropriate. This will help you with cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Over time, our physicians will help you get off Suboxone by slowly tapering it down.

Health Coaching

Throughout your treatment, a Health Coach will be your partner, mentor, spiritual guide, and support system to help you adjust to a new lifestyle. Through constant communication, your Health Coach will help you work through any challenges you face as you make strides toward your life goals.

Online Support Groups

Too often, the journey to get off opioids can be a lonely one. Our online meetings can be attended via a phone or video call. They are a safe space with only people who are looking for help with opioid use. You can share your story and support others in treatment.

How It Works

Talk with a compassionate coach

A trained health coach will learn more about you, your withdrawal symptoms, your cravings, mental health needs and your health goals. Get answers to any questions you might have and make sure that our program can help you reach your goals.

Doctor visits via phone & video calls

Meet your doctor via a video call from the comfort of your home. No waiting rooms. Completely confidential. After a thorough medical evaluation, the doctor will choose the right care plan for you to decrease your opioid use. All follow ups will be via phone or video calls as well.

Prescription refills

Your prescription will be sent electronically to a pharmacy near you. The prescription will be refilled at every follow up call with your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Treatment

What kind of treatment do you do?

We help people who are looking to reduce their use of opiates. We offer Medication Assisted Treatment using Buprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone) to remove opioid cravings.

What can you prescribe to help with pain and withdrawal symptoms?

Our physicians prescribe Buprenorphone/Naloxone (Suboxone) to overcome opioid withdrawal. They also typically prescribe medications like Zofran (nausea and vomiting), Tizanidine (muscle relaxant), Hydroxyzine (non addictive sedative for anxiety), Loperamide (diarrhea and abdominal cramps) and Naproxen (muscle pain). If you are in still in pain, we shall utilize non opioid alternatives to manage your pain. The exact option depends on the cause of pain and can vary based on whether or not you have chronic pain.

Is this treatment confidential?

Yes. We will never share any health information with anyone else unless we have your explicit consent.

Will I get a prescription at my first appointment?

Yes! The provider will call in your prescription to the pharmacy of your choice. Refills will be prescribed during follow ups.

Does the doctor only prescribe Suboxone, or do they prescribe other things too?

For opioid dependence treatment, we only offer Suboxone. While Methadone can also be used to treat opioid dependence, you have to visit a clinic weekly to obtain the prescription, and that doesn’t fit with our telemedicine model. The providers can and do prescribe other medications to treat things other than opioid dependence. However, this is done on a case to case basis and we do ask that you seek help from a primary care provider for prescriptions you might need that are not directly related to your opioid dependence treatment. For example, if your Suboxone is making you nauseous, your provider might prescribe something to help with that.

How long will this treatment take?

This is not a quick fix. It really depends on how long you’ve been using opioids for and how much you use. How well you personally respond to treatment can make a big difference as well, so it really is hard to predict beforehand and varies patient to patient. The recovery process takes time, but we will be here to help you through every part of the process no matter how long it takes! Luckily, Suboxone will curb your cravings and won’t leave you feeling foggy, so you can function very well while on the medication. In short, the process will likely be long, but worth it.

Can I switch from Methadone to Suboxone?

We can help you transition from Methadone to Suboxone, just as long as you are currently on 20mg or less of Methadone. If you are currently taking more than that, we would need to wait until your dose is less than 20mg to start your treatment. It is dangerous to switch from a higher dose of Methadone to Suboxone, because it would be too much of a difference in dosages. The side effects would be too much and it can be dangerous. Please do work on getting your dose down and reach back out to us when you are ready to make the switch!

Pricing

How much does this cost?

We have a monthly fee of $199/month which includes all appointments, health coaching and online support groups. You can use any insurance to pay for prescriptions and lab tests.

How much will the prescriptions cost?

If you have insurance, the prescriptions will be covered by your insurance company. If you don’t have insurance, the cost of your prescription could be around $100-$150 a month. Although, that does depend on your dose and which pharmacy you go to.

Do you accept Medi-Cal or Medicaid?

In Michigan we are able to accept Medicaid for our fees, however, elsewhere we do not accept either Medi-Cal or Medicaid. That said, you can use your Medi-Cal or Medicaid benefits card to pay for medications and lab tests. Just take your card with you to the pharmacy or lab.

Can I use my insurance to pay for this treatment?

In California we accept Medicare, Blue Shield (PPO), Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare. In other states we accept UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, Aetna (PPO and POS) or self-pay. If you have any other insurance, our self pay option is $199/month. We are happy to provide you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company to potentially get some of that money back using your out-of-network benefits. That said, you can use your insurance to pay for medications and lab tests. Just take your insurance card with you to the pharmacy or the lab.

What's included in the monthly fee?

The monthly fee includes all doctor visits to refill your prescription. It also includes getting care via unlimited chat messages in between scheduled visits, unscheduled doctor visits, online support groups and any care navigation as needed.

Do you offer refunds?

You may cancel your appointment anytime within 24 hours before your appointment and no charge will be made. We do not offer refunds if you have spoken with the doctor over the phone or seen the doctor in-person.

Can I pay with cash or check?

Since we are an online clinic, we can't accept cash or checks. Also, since we have a subscription based model (as opposed to paying at each appointment), it is more convenient to use a credit or debit card. If you don’t have a bank card to use, you can purchase a Visa gift card with your cash and we can run that through our card processing system.

Enrollment

Do you have to be in withdrawal to start treatment?

No! You don’t need to be in withdrawal at your first appointment. However, when you are starting your Suboxone prescription you will need to abstain from using your opioid of choice and you will experience some withdrawal symptoms. Then, you will start Buprenorphine/Naloxone (Suboxone) which will help overcome those symptoms and remove opioid cravings. You may have some side effects as you adjust to the medication, but we will be available to help you with anything you need! Your provider will work closely with you throughout the process to check in on how you’re doing and help you through it. If you have concerns about this process, we’d be happy to schedule a time for one of our providers to give you a call to talk more in detail about it

Do you have a location close to where I live?

We provide at-home treatment via phone and video calls. As long as you live in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming you can enroll in our program.
