Patient & Family Advisory Council

At Bicycle Health, we believe that innovation is driven by people with unique perspectives working towards a common goal. We recognize that placing our patients' insights and experience at the forefront is essential for making meaningful change.

Our Patient & Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is a forum for Bicycle Health patients, loved ones, and staff to share ideas and work together to improve our program for current and future patients. Central to our process is creating an environment in which all voices are valued and all perspectives are incorporated into our improvement efforts. Our group members are friendly and welcoming, which leads to easy collaboration and creativity!

What to expect

Who else is in the group?

Our current PFAC group consists of patients and Bicycle Health staff members, including medical providers, clinical support staff, operations managers, and members of the leadership team. All members bring a unique perspective and shared enthusiasm for making Bicycle Health the best program it can possibly be!

How much participation is expected?

We understand that participating in a PFAC is a new experience for most people and that there will be different levels of comfort when it comes to group participation. At the beginning of the meeting, we ask that everyone share their name and how long they've been at Bicycle Health. After this brief intro, group members can choose to just listen for the remainder of the meeting or jump in at any point. The meeting environment is welcoming, respectful, and friendly which can make it easier for people to share when they feel ready.

What happens in the meetings?

The PFAC meets every month for 1 hour. During each meeting, members review progress made on existing projects, discuss next steps, and identify additional areas for program improvement. Each quarter, a PFAC staff member will share updates with the Bicycle Health leadership team who will help implement changes recommended by the group.

What projects does the group work on?

Examples of project areas include: expanding group offerings, improving the enrollment process, fixing app issues, simplifying the UDS process, increasing outreach efforts, etc.We encourage group members to think creatively about all of the ways we can improve the Bicycle Health experience from smaller changes (e.g. app login problems) to larger initiatives (e.g. advocacy efforts). All ideas are welcome!

Can I join one meeting to try it out?

Yes! We recognize that this is a unique experience and welcome newcomers who may want to observe a meeting or two before deciding whether they want to join the PFAC.
