- HUSKY Health: HUSKY Health is Connecticut's Medicaid program, administered by the Department of Social Services (DSS). It provides comprehensive health coverage to eligible low-income individuals and families. HUSKY Health offers different plans, including HUSKY A, HUSKY B, and HUSKY D, each tailored to meet specific needs. These plans cover a wide range of services, including doctor visits, hospital care, prescriptions, preventive care, and more.
- HUSKY Health for Children and Teens: Connecticut's HUSKY Health program extends coverage to children and teenagers up to age 19 who meet the eligibility criteria. This program ensures that children have access to essential healthcare services, including preventive care, dental care, vision care, mental health services, and more.

This program covers prenatal care, labor and delivery, postpartum care, and other related healthcare services to support a healthy pregnancy and childbirth.

This program offers comprehensive healthcare services, long-term care support, and home and community-based services to assist individuals in maintaining their health and independence.
- Medicaid Spenddown: Connecticut also has a Medicaid Spenddown program, which helps individuals with higher incomes qualify for Medicaid by allowing them to spend excess income on medical expenses to meet the income requirements. This program can provide crucial healthcare coverage to individuals who would otherwise be ineligible for traditional Medicaid.

Insurance Requirements for Suboxone Treatment
As of 2008, health insurers and group health plans are required, by law, to offer the same level of benefits mental health and substance use treatment as they do for “physical health” (i.e. medical and surgical care). This legal requirement is thanks to the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA). As a result, the majority of insurance plans offer some degree of coverage for medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone). Similar to “physical health” benefits, mental health and substance use treatment benefits often have limitations. Depending on your plan, you may have to adhere to certain requirements set forth by your insurer.
Common insurance requirements include:
- Proof of medical necessity
- Prior authorization
- Copayments
- Deductibles
- Yearly visit limits
