Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone

Medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction is the use of medications—buprenorphine, methadone, or naltrexone—to treat opioid use disorder, which reduces opioid cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and overdose risk. Buprenorphine treatment is often combined with naloxone; together, this combination is known as Suboxone. Suboxone is the most well-known FDA-approved medication for treatment of opioid use disorder.

Benefits of MAT

Medication-assisted treatment is critical to prevent overdose and death. Research shows that with MAT, 75% of patients will still be in recovery one year later. Conversely, studies demonstrate that within one month of stopping buprenorphine treatment, more than 50% of patients relapse to illicit opioid use.

Benefits of Suboxone include helping patients to feel normal and healthy, and when taken as prescribed by a medical provider, it treats addiction and does not cause the negative impacts of uncontrolled substance use on one’s life, goals, and daily functioning.

My life has improved 100% on Suboxone. I can deal with the ups and downs, am rarely depressed, don’t have a lot of anxiety and have my energy back. I feel like a normal person again.

Bicycle Health's

Mission & Philosphy

  • Make medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone more accessible to all who need it
  • Allow patients to quickly, safely, and confidentially start this life-saving medication
  • Help patients access the mental health & community resources needed to regain control of their lives

Bicycle Health offers buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) treatment to patients with opioid use disorder. Our goal is to help patients start treatment quickly, safely, and confidentially and support all patients long-term. Our values guide everything we do, ensuring each member of the Bicycle Health team you interact with is:

Our values

Non-judgmental

Our providers are confident, caring, and reliable. We understand that opioid use disorder is a chronic disease of the brain, and together, we strive to break the stigma of addiction.

Empathetic

We seek to understand and respect the personalized needs of each patient. Our providers are invested in your recovery and are honored to walk alongside you as you re-shape your life’s path.

Evidence-based care

Our medical providers are trained in addiction-medicine and deliver care that is based on rigorous scientific and medical research.

Reliable

We are invested in each patient’s recovery, and as such, our providers, health coaches, and leadership are responsive to your needs. We strive to deliver as close to a real-time care experience as we can.

Accessible

By virtue of being an online Suboxone clinic, we can deliver care to patients in a way that is most convenient to them.

Affordable

We are committed to delivering health equitable care. As part of this, we are the most affordable, long-term care solution for opioid dependence on the market.

How does Bicycle Health work?

We utilize a biopsychosocial approach to treatment for opioid addiction. This includes medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone), access to online support groups, and a dedicated health coach for behavioral health support. Here’s how our process works:

Talk with an Enrollment Coordinator

You’ll first meet confidentially with an experienced enrollment coordinator who will learn more about you, your experience with opioid dependence, and your health goals. Our enrollment coordinators can answer any questions you might have about our online Suboxone clinic so you can ensure our program is a good fit for you. All visits are confidential, including this first screening visit.

Doctor visits via phone & video calls

Following your appointment with the enrollment coordinator, you’ll be scheduled for your first telehealth visit with your medical provider. During your first medical provider visit, your provider will learn more about you and collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan for your opioid use disorder. Most patients are prescribed buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) during their first provider visit.

Prescription refills

Your buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone) prescription will be sent electronically to a pharmacy near you. This prescription will be refilled during weekly, biweekly, or monthly telehealth visits with your Bicycle Health provider.

Behavioral health resources

Research shows that treatment for opioid use disorder is most successful in conjunction with mental health supports. Here at Bicycle Health, we offer online support groups, which serve as safe, confidential spaces to meet with others who are also in recovery. Patients also work with dedicated health coaches who assist with behavioral health needs, and our medical providers are trained to prescribe treatment for common mental health conditions, like depression and anxiety.

Online Suboxone Treatment Works

Online Suboxone treatment is a safe, confidential, and effective means of treatment for opioid use disorder, and it provides significantly expanded access for patients in geographic regions without buprenorphine-waivered providers.

There are lots of healthcare access issues for patients with addiction… some live in rural areas without access to providers trained in medication-assisted treatment with buprenorphine/naloxone (Suboxone)… others may feel stigmatized when seeking in-person treatment… yet others may have jobs that don’t allow them time off for health appointments… these are the advantages of telemedicine.

Telemedicine benefits include the opportunity for patients to track their symptoms and how they’re feeling throughout each day, with that information then instantly sent to their medical providers, allowing clinicians to provide the highest level of support to patients in-the-moment. And further, this type of ongoing tracking and surveying throughout each day allows providers more insight into what might trigger a patient’s cravings, thereby allowing for a more specialized treatment plan.

Virtual health also provides patients the opportunity to attend online support groups, which adds an extra layer of accountability and community support.

One of the things I love about Bicycle Health is the ability to use telemedicine to communicate with my doctor. Appointments can take place anywhere: at work, on vacation, even in my bed at home!
